Fire destroyed the church in the early morning hours of September 28th in the community located about 60 kilometres southwest of Meadow Lake.

Loon Lake RCMP report a man from the nearby Mawka Sahgaiehcan First Nation was arrested on Saturday. Twenty-five-year-old Shandon Chief is charged with one count of arson, as well as breaching a conditional sentencing order.

Chief made his first appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Monday.

No one was in the church at the time of the fire.
