Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for a large swath of central Saskatchewan to the west and heading diagonally to the southeast corner of the province, as you can see on the map. It includes along the western edge of the province from Onion Lake, Lloydminster, the Battlefords and further south to Alsask, and further east, including Saskatoon, Blaine Lake, Rosthern and Wakaw. Then heading southeast including Outlook, Moose Jaw and Regina and further to the southeast corner of the province
A period of very cold wind chills is expected. Temperatures near -30 with wind chills around -40 this morning (Fri). The bitter cold is expected to continue into Saturday before moderating on Sunday.
There is also an Extreme Cold Warning for the far north, which can expect a period of very cold wind chills. Extremely cold wind chill values near -45 are occurring this morning through northern Saskatchewan. In some regions, very cold wind chills may return overnight into Saturday morning.
