Two people have been taken to hospital following the accidental mixing of chlorine and muriatic acid at a building at Spadina Crescent and 21st Street.
Just after noon on Friday, the Saskatoon Fire Department received the report, and its hazmat team was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the crew found the contaminated areas were evacuated. The release of chlorine gas was contained, and the hazmat crew began to ventilate the area.
The condition of the two in hospital is not known.
Callers to the newsroom are reporting police, fire, and various other emergency vehicles and personnel parked in the area, as well as people in hazmat suits outside of the Delta Bessborough.
