The names of the four homicide victims on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation have been released in an effort, according to the RCMP news release, to further the investigation.
The deceased victims are identified as 34-year-old Tracey Hotomani of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, 44-year-old Sheldon Quewezance of Zagime Anishinabek, 47-year-old Shauna Fay of Indian Head and 51-year-old Terry Jack of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
RCMP say “the homicide victims were injured by firearm”. Investigators have conducted neighbourhood canvasses on the First Nation and are conducting evidence analysis. At this time no arrests have been made in relation to the deaths of the four victims.
Inspecter Ashley St. Germaine stresses that anyone with information speak directly with police and that rumours can spread quickly but misinformation can impact an investigation by rerouting investigators in false directions.
RCMP say officers responded to a report of deaths on the reserve, located about 80 kilometres east of Regina, at 11:15 a.m. on February 4, 2025. They found four people dead in a home. Around 3:15 p.m. the same day RCMP received multiple reports of a man pointing a gun at people on Zagime Anishinabek, a nearby First Nation. Early morning February 5th, Keagan Panipekeesick was arrested in Regina in connection to the firearm pointing incident. All police will say in terms of an update to that incident is that it is still under investigation.
