Rob Neufeld with Sherbrooke Foundation says Sherbrooke Community Centre says they have two buses they run and one is getting old and needs to be replaced.
They managed to meet their fundraising goal with the help of Cherry Insurance which matched donations up to 100 thousand dollars.
There is actually money left over so Neufeld says they are going to purchase new ceiling track lifts for residents’ rooms which costs about 10 thousand dollars each. The 263 residents at Sherbrooke Community Centre are age 20 and older and Neufeld says mobility is important because they are people who like to stay busy going to places like movies, restaurants, the casino, Persephone Theatre, Shopping and the Farmer’s Market.
He also notes that one of their priorities was a bus with a lot of glass that maximized the ability of residents to see out of the bus.
