The 2nd anniversary of the disappearance of Ashley Morin, from North Battleford, will see a group searching for answers, walk from Saskatoon to North Battleford to spread awareness.
Krista Fox, a spokesperson and friend of the Morin family, says they want to get Ashley’s face back out there, and let people know she’s still missing. She adds, they want the people responsible for her disappearance to know they haven’t and will never give up, and this is the best way to stay connected to bring Ashley home.
The 2nd edition of the walk will take place over 3 days, starting at the Saskatoon Police Headquarters Friday morning. Fox says they start there because of the amazing support the city has provided. COVID-19 will change the walk this year, last year they were able to camp out on the side of the road, but this year they will drive home when it gets dark and then return to the same spot the next day.
Members of the Saskatoon Police Service victims Services Unit joined the family in support and awareness, with a short ceremony and smudge that led the way to the group beginning their trek to North Battleford over the weekend.
Battlefords RCMP believes Morin was the victim of a homicide but to date no evidence to confirm that has been found.
Last year RCMP released new photos and information to help with the search of Ashley Morin, including a two-tone van that was seen in one of Ashley’s last known locations.
One year ago the first Awareness Walk for Ashley Morin was held.
