After gathering a year ago on a cold and windy day to announce that SIGA will be moving into a brand new central office in Sutherland, many of those same people gathered Friday on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny morning for the official ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of their new facility.
The new 40,880 square foot facility will house all of SIGA’s departments under one roof for the first time in nearly 24 years. That’s according to Patricia Cook, Vice-President of Corporate Affairs. She says the new facility will house around 180 employees.
The new building also includes a 9,750 square foot warehouse were SIGA will do maintenance and service work on their slot machines for their 7 casinos. Cook adds the organization recently took over the slot management program from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, which means they’ll be responsible for the maintenance of their slot machines.
The Vice-President of Corporate Affairs says it’s been a big year for SIGA. In addition to opening a new office, the organization opened up the Gold Horse Casino in Lloydminster in December and this summer marked the beginning of their casinos being open 24/7 on weekends.
