CP Rail says Canadian Pacific and the Teamsters Conference Rail Canada have reached agreement to enter binding arbitration. CP will immediately begin working with customers to resume normal train operations across Canada as soon as possible.
Business groups, ranchers and farmers had said the stoppage will be devastating to the economy—and especially livestock producers relying on feed shipments for their cattle and hogs. Janice Tranberg is President of the Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association. She said yesterday they have 10 days to two weeks of feed available. CP Rail says the plan is a return to work today.
