Just before 8:30 Saturday morning, the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a garage fire in the 300 block of Whitney Avenue South after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls.

The first crews on scene found black heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of a single car garage which was igniting nearby power lines and fences.

Portions of the walls were removed to allow crews to extinguish any remaining hot spots. No one was found inside the garage and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage is estimated at $20 thousand dollars.

Saskatoon Light and Power crews were called to assist with the affected power lines.
