Saskatoon Police provided an update Monday on the situation involving Dawn Dumont Walker who was reported missing, which led to multiagency searches and investigation, and then she was found two weeks later in Oregon.
Walker is facing two charges in the U.S right now including false statements when using a passport which is a felony and the misdemeanor charge of possessing stolen ID documents. Police say Walker will be detained in the U.S. in the short term. She is also facing charges in Canada of parental abduction and public mischief.
The Saskatoon Police Service says Dawn Walker crossed into the U.S. in Montana at a border crossing in Southern Alberta and was found in a rental unit in Oregon City, Oregon. Saskatoon police are working on determining whether Oregon was her final destination and say they expect the cost of the search for the missing Saskatoon woman will be significant.
Her son has since returned home after a legal guardian picked him up from Oregon over the weekend.
Walker was last seen July 22nd in the evening and was reported missing to the Saskatoon Police Service the night of July 24th. Her truck was discovered south of Saskatoon at Chief Whitecap Park on July 25th. And then it was learned her purse has been found in the area two days earlier and turned in to RCMP.
