Health Canada has approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 bivalent booster, targeting the B-A-4 and B-A-5 strains of the Omicron variant. Health minister Jean-Yves Duclos says people who got their last booster dose 6 months or more ago should get the upgraded one. Moderna’s bivalent vaccine was approved last month. Chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam says it’s important for people to get the new vaccine, as there are indications the virus is making a fall resurgence.
