Less than a year since the social heartbeat of the town, the Aberdeen Rec Complex (A-R-C), was in danger of shutting down with the bank holding ownership of the building title, the A-R-C is holding a grand re-opening today.
It’ll happen between Noon and 4 p.m. and will include a Hallowe’en-themed public skate, tours of the facility – which includes the three thousand square foot off-ice training centre, the two thousand square foot hockey shooting training centre, a new ice training pad, restaurant specials, and a community market featuring local Aberdeen businesses.
There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries, including facility owner Wally Mah. The prominent Saskatoon businessman purchased the A-R-C back in the spring and put in more funds to kick-start a renovation of the 17-year-old A-R-C.
Besides the previously mentioned amenities and, of course, the full-sized hockey rink, the A-R-C is home to the newly-created Primal Athletics, the All-Star Cafe, Aberdeen Dance, tae-kwon-do classes. In addition, a massage therapist will soon be a tenant of the A-R-C.
