Canada’s Minister of National Defence says since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and especially in recent weeks, there has been a notable rise in cyber threat activity from Russian-aligned entities targeting Ukraine’s partners, and Canada is no exception. Anita Anand says the malicious cyber activity is frequently directed at critical infrastructure networks and technology used to run vital sectors.

The government continues to monitor and respond to these attacks. She states that Canada’s Communications Security Establishment works every day to defend government systems, and on any given day CSE’s defensive systems can block anywhere from 3 to 5 billion malicious actions.
