La Loche RCMP have issued a news release regarding the stabbing at the local high school that happened last Thursday.

When the Public Service Alliance of Canada went on strike RCMP had sent notice that some of their media relation services could be affected and indicated at that time they might not issue news releases or answer inquiries about subjects that didn’t involve immediate public safety issues.

But today they do confirm that they were called out around 2:30 on the afternoon of April 20th to a report of an assault in progress at the Dene High School in La Loche. A teacher and student were injured and received medical assistance.

RCMP say the matter is still under investigation.
