As of 4:00 Monday morning, there are 26 active wildfires in the province and six of them are considered not contained. In addition to that 11 are under ongoing assessment. There are four contained wildfires burning around the Prince Albert region, however the special air quality statement the area had yesterday has been removed. There is still an advisory for the areas west from Kindersley to Macklin, and west from the Battlefords to St. Walburg.
A man from Fox Creek Alberta is facing charges after attempting to use a gravel road to go around a check point in an evacuated area. His large truck became stuck in the mud, and the active fire in the area surrounded him. He has to be air lifted to safety by a forestry helicopter. This is a reminder to the public to avoid travelling in evacuation areas whenever possible.
