Anyone entertaining a career in the public service industry is encouraged to attend the Emergency Services Career Expo happening on Monday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Saskatoon Police Service Gymnasium.
Staff Sergeant Patrick Barbar says there will be professionals from nearly every aspect of emergency services available at the expo to answer questions and talk about the industry including Saskatoon Police Service, Saskatoon Fire Department, Medavie Health Services paramedics, RCMP and Correctional Services of Canada.
Although all members of the public are welcome, the expo has an emphasis on targeting newcomers to the province, as people with permanent resident status, but without Canadian citizenship, can also apply. These careers are essential to the functioning of society, and Staff Sgt. Barbar says these professions are searching for hardworking people with a desire to help and serve their community. Barbar says that as our province grows and as current workers retire, employees in the emergency services field will be highly sought after. He adds that these types of jobs take dedication, however they are extremely rewarding.
