A report to the City of Saskatoon’s Governance and Priorities Committee Wednesday includes a few suggestions on how to make ends meet for for the 2024 and 2025 budgets.
The City announced last week that there is a budget shortfall at this point for next year of $52.4 million and $23.2 million for 2025.
The report states that one possible area for saving money could be reducing the amount of money going to the pot for various phase-ins, including base funding for Bus Rapid Transit, Transit services for Aspen Ridge, Evergreen and North Kensington and for the future East Leisure Centre expected to open in 2029.
Chief Financial Officer Clae Hack says there will be special budget meetings throughout the summer leading into November’s budget deliberations.
