If you received a ticket last year thanks to photo radar, your donation helped 106 Saskatchewan communities receive funding for traffic and pedestrian safety initiatives, thanks to the latest round of funding dispersal from the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grant program.
Communities will receive grants ranging from $1,024 to $80,824 for a total of nearly $1.72 million. This is the highest amount awarded since the program started in 2019. Proceeds accumulated from photo speed enforcement fund the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grants, which are awarded to communities twice a year.
School speed zone awareness in Rosetown, flashing crosswalk signage in North Battleford and bilingual Dene stop signs on the Buffalo River Dene Nation are just a few of the road safety enhancements in the latest round of grants.
Two of the larger dispersals are for Regina and Saskatoon. Regina will get $75,000 for improvements to the Dewdney Avenue and Lewvan Drive intersection while Saskatoon will receive almost $81,000 for a Pedestrian Actuated Signal at 22nd Street and Avenue V.
