The Saskatchewan government celebrated the grand opening of the province’s newest natural gas-fired power plant Friday in Swift Current.
The Chinook power station is expected to generate enough electricity to power 350-thousand homes using combined-cycle gas turbine technology.
Dustin Duncan, the minister responsible for SaskPower, says the facility will help the utility meet its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40 per cent from 2005 levels by 2030.
