A 28 year-old woman from Alberta has been charged with defrauding several Saskatoon residents of more than $97,000 last fall.
In September and October, police received multiple reports of the so-called “Family/Grandparent Emergency Scam”
Saskatoon police were able to identify a suspect using video surveillance and tips from the public.
A warrant was issued and the suspect was arrested last Tuesday by Calgary Police. She was transported to Saskatoon one week ago.
She has been charged with ten counts of fraud over $5,000, unlawful use of a credit card obtained by the commission of an offense and impersonating a police officer.
