In total, the federal government has announced over $7.4 million for 17 organizations in Saskatchewan and Manitoba to prevent and address gender-based violence.
There are six Saskatchewan organizations receiving funding. One of them, PATHS, the Provincial Association of Transition Houses and Services of Saskatchewan will receive $400,00 to map the survivors’ impacts of gender-based violence when dealing with the legal system.
The highest rate of gender-related homicide of women and girls of all the provinces is in Saskatchewan and 1.03 per cent followed by Manitoba at 0.72 per cent, and rural rates of intimate partner violence are significantly higher than those in urban areas in all areas of Canada.
