Although both the province and the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation were optimistic about reaching a possible deal over Easter break, nothing came to fruition, so now teachers are taking additional job action.
Saskatchewan teachers will be at school Monday, but they will not be available before or after class, or during the lunch hour. STF has launched a work-to-rule-conditions,
Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation President Samantha Becotte says Work-to-rule is a job action and a sanction that restricts the hours that teachers provide service to 15 minutes before the school day begins and 15 minutes after the school day ends. It also removes all voluntary services provided from teachers.
Becotte says “work-to-rule” will continue indefinitely. Becotte says graduation planning also falls under “voluntary service” so teachers will not be participating, even though parents have the option of organizing graduation events.
