Farm Credit Canada issued a statement on Thursday saying it is not moving the head office from Regina to Quebec.
Farm Credit Canada is a federal crown corporation and is the largest agricultural lender in the country.
Saskatchewan United Party (SUP) leader Nadine Wilson asked Premier Scott Moe in the legislature what he was doing to keep the FCC office and its many employees in Regina. An SUP statement issued later said “multiple high level” sources have indicated a move is in the works.
Premier Moe told reporters that he spoke with FCC’s new chief executive officer a few months ago and there was no mention of a move.
This is the statement released to media by Farm Credit Canada:
“To be absolutely clear, FCC is not moving its head office from Regina. While FCC is a national organization with a national mandate, we value being a part of Regina and share a passion for this community, along with our more than 1,000 FCC employees who call this community home. There is a lot of important work ahead for FCC as we serve our customers and the Canadian agriculture and food industry, and that is where our focus remains.”
