Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon has appointed two new independent senators to the Canadian Senate. Charles Adler, a respected radio host and journalist from Manitoba, and Tracy Muggli, a social worker and executive from Saskatchewan, will fill current vacancies.
Muggli, with over 35 years in health and social services, is the Executive Director of St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon and has been honored with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.
Both appointments were recommended by the Independent Advisory Board for Senate Appointments, which uses a merit-based process introduced in 2016 to ensure a diverse and independent Senate.
