One tree was removed from Wascana Park last Tuesday after testing positive for Dutch Elm Disease.
There are approximately 5,000 elms trees in the Wascana Centre, which makes up about 13 percent of its canopy. The infected tree was located in the vicinity of the Science Centre. Additional testing is continuing to determine if there are any other cases.
Wascana Centre had single cases of Dutch Elm Disease in 2014 and 2019.
It is illegal to transport, store or buy elm firewood in Saskatchewan.
