Aleana Young, the NDP candidate for Regina South Albert, pledged today that the Saskatchewan NDP would freeze the small business tax for their entire mandate should they form government. She says Carla Beck and the Saskatchewan NDP are listening to small business owners who have been struggling under Scott Moe.
The NDP points to Statistics Canada data which they say shows from June 2023 to June 2024, Saskatchewan saw a net loss of 114 active businesses. And the NDP says in this year’s budget the Saskatchewan Party leader Scott Moe outlined his plans to double the small business tax on June 30th next year. They also point to a report from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business where the NDP says it business confidence in Saskatchewan was the second lowest in Canada this summer.
The Saskatchewan Party announced Tuesday that it will make life more affordable for persons living with disabilities by increasing Disability Tax Credit, Caregiver Tax Credit and SAID Income Exemption. Scott Moe in North Battleford said the Saskatchewan Party will increase the Disability Tax Credit for adults, the Disability Tax Credit Supplement for persons under 18 and the CaregiverTax Credit for families who care for adult children or a parent with a disability by 25 per cent.
The Saskatchewan Party says this will increase the benefit from each of the three credits by $286 annually before inflation, in addition to other tax reductions they announced last week. Each of the credits is also indexed annually for inflation, like every other Saskatchewan tax credit and exemption.
